The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) are accreditation divisions of AdvancED
Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools, and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. The accreditation process is also known in terms of its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education. But such definitions, though accurate, are incomplete.
Calhoun County Schools is a fully accredited district.

WP Diamond Club 5K Fun Run/Walk

White Plains Diamond Club will be hosting a 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. to benefit the White Plains Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball & Softball Teams. Anniston Star Features Article on CCS Social Workers

The January 4, 2015, Sunday edition of the Anniston Star featured an article on how the social workers at Calhoun County Schools offer families a helping hand. Author Zach Tyler interviewed social workers Becky Cox and Nicole Burgess about the rising number of homeless students in the school system and how they are raising money to help alleviate this problem. 2015 High School Literary Arts Awards Contest

The 2015 High School Literary Arts Awards competition is for Alabama English and Creative Writing teachers in Grades 9-12, and all interested students in Grades 9-12 are invited to submit their entries to the High School Literary Arts Awards (HSLAA) from now through January 12, 2015. The 2015 High School Literary Arts Awards guidelines and entry form are attached. Participating students may be eligible for awards and scholarships in the categories of poetry, short fiction, drama, creative nonfiction, portfolios, and literary magazines. Cash awards are available to high school seniors through the senior portfolio competition. Competition entries may be submitted now through the last postmark date of January 12, 2015. Complete guidelines and entry forms are available on the Alabama Writers Forum Web site at www.writersforum.org.
