2018-2019 Information! Saks High School Band ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS AND PARENTS
Greetings! I am excited about beginning my 16th year working with the Saks Band. We have much to do to prepare for marching season. As Im sure you are already aware, great performances do not happen without much preparation, dedication and hard work. Below I have listed the schedule we will follow this fall. Look at it very closely so you will know when you are to report. We need each and every member present in order to realize any success that is ours to achieve. We will be putting the show on the field during camp. Attendance is required. Please make any problems regarding attendance known to me as soon as possible! 2018 Camp at Saks High School July 23-July 27 (8:00-4:00) Full Band July 30-Aug. 2 (8:00-4:00) Full Band Once school begins on August 7th, the full band will practice after school each Monday, Tuesday,and Thursday from the end of school until 5:00pm Wednesdays until 4:00pm.
Please note the following about band camp: · Tennis shoes are required to be worn at all times (No sandals, flip-flops, or bare feet) · Wear comfortable clothes in keeping with school policies and adequate protection from the sun. (Please bring hats, sunglasses and sunscreen!) · Instruments should be in good working order with all necessary equipment. (Reeds, Valve Oil) Percussion Members MUST have their own personal sticks & mallets each day! · Students may bring coolers with drinks. (No Glass bottles or containers. Water is best!) Lunch will be from 12 Noon to 1:00PM on full days. (Students are asked to bring a sack lunch, but will be allowed to leave with WRITTEN PARENTAL PERMISSION - Parents please be very clear about transportation arrangements. (TARDINESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.) Band Fees: · uniform fee - $25.00 · marching Band fee - $75.00 class fee (CCBOE) High School - $30.00 (Middle School grades $20.00) Make checks payable to Saks High School Band the monies will be used for music, instructors, and transportation for band to and from games. Fees are due at band camp, but you may set up a payment plan. Attached is a sponsor form for your child to use to help pay for fees. Make sure all monies and sponsor sheet to Saks High School. The students will be sized and shoes ordered July 25th at the cost of $35.00 a pair. Band gloves and shoes can be purchased from the Saks Band Boosters for gloves @ $5.00 (There is the only one style of shoe allowed when performing with the SHS band). Color guard and drum major shoes/gloves are cost more check with Mr. Inglis Remember students, band pictures are made early during camp and these pictures are used in programs, annuals, ETC. All performances are required of Saks High Band Students and recorded as major test grades. Some events are to be announced, i.e. TBA, and may not be listed on this sheet.
